The citizen's allowance is history. In its place is a basic security that relies on a calculated breach of the constitution. Total sanctions, placement priority, square meter caps, every move means more comprehensive state surveillance. In Hamburg, the payment card is to be extended to social welfare and youth welfare recipients in the future. Are citizen benefit recipients next? The new basic security trumps Hartz IV in its cruelty and is a sword of Damocles over the unemployed and all those who do wage work. At the same time, the number of billionaires and multimillionaires is steadily increasing. Financial fraud by the super-rich is more or less passively watched, while the phantom of the total refuser of citizen's money has been driven by the media for years. How the attack on the welfare state affects those affected in practice and what we as civil society can do to avoid just having to stand idly by, that's what this talk is about.
