Pflanzen haben ein Transportsystem, um Dinge zu bewegen.
Das Xylem bewegt Wasser und gelöste Stoffe von den Wurzeln zu den Blättern durch einen Prozess, der als Transpiration bekannt ist.
Das Phloem bewegt Glukose und Aminosäuren von den Blättern zum Rest der Pflanze durch einen Prozess, der als Translokation bekannt ist.
Das Xylem und das Phloem treten in Gruppen auf, so genannte Leitbündel. Die Anordnung ist etwas anders in den Wurzeln als im Stamm. Das Xylem besteht aus abgestorbenen Zellen, während das Phloem aus lebenden Zellen besteht.
